How do I Become a Member of Charlotte DSA?

You can become a member of Charlotte Metro DSA by first becoming a member of National DSA. Members in good standing are allowed to vote on chapter business, run for officer positions, and participate in our chapter’s committees. We encourage selecting the dues level which best fits your current budget. Your dues support the full time organizers in the national organization and our chapter’s local projects.

If you are currently not in a financial position to afford chapter dues but are still interested in membership, please message cltdsa@proton.me and we can can provide you instruction on how to request a dues waiver. We do not want anyone who is dedicated to our cause to be barred from participation.

Additionally, all of the events listed on our calendar do not require DSA membership to attend! So if you’re not ready to commit or would like to learn more about us come check them out first!

How Do I Get Started? 

We recommend you first get started by coming out to one of our social events. They are a great way to start meeting comrades and getting introduced to the group and ongoing projects. Every month the chapter hosts a social out at a bar or brewery. The chapter has also hosted table top gaming events, movie nights, and bike rides. Find the one that sounds the most fun and come say hi!

We also host a new member orientation on a monthly basis which is a great introduction to the chapter if you're ready to jump into organizing. These orientations are on the third Wednesday of the month. They will bring you up to speed on how the chapter functions and give you the resources you need to get involved.
